Glaass is excited to announce its collaboration with Elecnor on Transgrid’s transformative EnergyConnect project in Australia. This ambitious initiative aims to enhance the country’s energy infrastructure by constructing a 700km electricity transmission line, which will connect power grids across New South Wales and South Australia.
The EnergyConnect project, which includes a total of 900km of new electricity transmission lines in its entirety, is expected to significantly boost competition in the electricity market, leading to substantial savings for New South Wales customers and creating numerous construction jobs in regional areas. Additionally, it will support the future Southwest NSW Renewable Energy Zone, facilitating the connection of new generation capacity.
Key highlights of Elecnor’s portion of the EnergyConnect project include:
- Construction of new 330kV above-ground transmission lines with an 800MW transfer capacity.
- Development of a new substation at Dinawan and upgrades to existing substations at Buronga and Wagga Wagga. Once complete, the Buronga substation is set to be one of the world’s largest and most complex substations.
- Utilisation of over 9000km of conductor cabling and 60,000 cubic meters of concrete for tower footings and substation works, and more than one million cubic meters of earthworks to excavate tower footings and create substation foundations and site access points.
Glaass is proud to support the EnergyConnect project with their Quality-related requirements, adding to our extensive portfolio of large-scale infrastructure projects that require customisable and user-friendly construction management systems.
