Glaass Awarded Contract for Kwinana Gas Power Generation 2 (K2) with Clough (Webuild)

We are pleased to announce that Glaass has been awarded a new contract on the Kwinana Gas Power Generation 2 (K2) Project, supporting Clough, part of the Webuild Group, on a major energy infrastructure development in Western Australia.

K2 is a 220MW open-cycle, dual-fuel gas turbine power station being delivered for AGL Energy in Kwinana, approximately 40 kilometres south of Perth. The facility will be co-located with AGL’s existing Kwinana Swift Power Station (K1), lifting combined capacity at the site to around 340 to 370MW. Clough was awarded the design and construct contract for the project, with construction now underway.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • Scope: Design and construction of a new 220MW open-cycle, multi-fuel gas turbine power station, built adjacent to the existing Kwinana Swift Power Station.
  • Grid Impact: K2 will deliver fast-start, flexible generation to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), providing critical backup capacity as Western Australia’s share of renewable energy grows.
  • Energy Transition: The project supports the Western Australian Government’s commitment to retire all state-owned coal-fired power generation by 2030, offering a lower-emissions option for peak demand periods.
  • Local Impact: The project is expected to create around 200 construction jobs, boosting local employment, supply chains and regional capability across Western Australia.

Glaass will be providing its digital construction management platform to support project delivery across quality, safety, environment, documentation, and compliance workflows. Our platform will enable consistent data capture, streamlined reporting, and improved collaboration between Clough, project stakeholders, and the wider delivery team throughout the lifecycle of the project.

We are proud to continue our relationship with Clough and the Webuild Group on this critical piece of energy infrastructure, and to support the delivery of a project that will strengthen the reliability and security of Western Australia’s electricity grid for years to come.
